The Diversity in Thar Desert
The Thar Desert, The Great Indian Desert, is a large, arid region in the north western part of the India. The Thar Desert is bounded in the northwest by the Sutlej River, in the east by the Aravalli Range, in the south by a salt marsh known as the Rann of Kutch, and in the west by the Indus River. The climatic conditions are very harsh & hot in this region of the country. This is the reason of its vast & variable biodiversity. It is an important area biologically, where different habitats, namely grassland, sand dunes and rocky expanses as well as forested land becomes integral part. Due to the diversified habitats, the vegetation and animal life in this arid region are very rich. Some wildlife species, fast disappearing from other parts of India, are found in large numbers in this desert, such as the Great Indian Bustard, Blackbuck, Indian Gazelle and Indian Wild Ass in the Rann of Kutch. The Desert National Park is an excellent example of the Thar Desert ecosystem, and its diverse fauna. The region is a haven for migratory and resident desert birds.

India is very rich in its resources, be it human or natural. She has diversity from dry deserts of thar in Rajasthan to cold deserts of Ladakh, Mountains of Himalaya’s to plateau of western Ghats, Plains & tropical forests to beaches of coastal areas. Every region has its own natural heritage to explore. I believe one life span is too less to understand & photograph them. The immense heritage of wildlife in India comprises of more than 70+ National protected parks & 440+ wildlife & bird sanctuaries. A paradise for nature lover, these forests are crucial for conservation & education to our future generation. The natural heritage must be passed live rather in fossils.
